Memorialization: Theory, Methods, Goals, and Ethics

Memorials shape how we understand history, identity, and community, but approaches to creating and contextualizing them vary widely across disciplines. This initiative brings together scholars from fields like history, law, sociology, and philosophy to explore shared challenges and new ideas. Through dialogue, workshops, and public engagement, we aim to foster collaboration and spark fresh insights on how we remember the past.

This two-day, invite-only conference at the University of Mississippi is designed to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and fresh perspectives on memorialization.
